Get this wrong on fresh plaster and the finish looks fine at handover, then blisters or flakes in month four — a callback and a repaint on a wall that was already invoiced. Fresh plaster, plasterboard, old gloss, concrete and metal each need a different primer, and that single choice decides whether the coat lasts three years or fifteen.
